Colgate Peroxyl Medicated Mouthwash is a medicated mouthwash used to relieve minor mouth and gum germs.
The mint flavoured mouthwash kills germs and prevents them from spreading and causing infection.
How Colgate Peroxyl Medicated Mouthwash works
When the peroxyl in the mouthwash comes into contact with your mouth tissue, oxygen is released in a bubbling action. This provides mechanical cleansing, flushing the mouth debris and helping to relieve oral irritations.
Directions
Always use Colgate Peroxyl Medicated Mouthwash exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Rinse your mouth with 1 capful of peroxyl for 1 minute, then spit out.
Use 3 times daily, after meals and at bedtime.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Colgate Peroxyl Medicated Mouthwash may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
Minor irritation and swelling of the mouth
Injury to the gums
Feeling that your tongue is hairy
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Colgate Peroxyl Medicated Mouthwash may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
Talk to your doctor, dentist or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have had a mouth irritation that lasts longer than 7 days or if it is severe.
You should also talk to a doctor, dentist or pharmacist if you have irritation due to dentures or braces.
Peroxyl contains levo-menthol, which if ingested in excessive amounts can cause seizures, particularly in children.
Do not use this product for longer than 7 days.
Age restrictions
This product is not recommended for children under 6.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before using any new products or medicine.
Storage information
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
