What is Germolene Antiseptic Cream?
Germolene Antiseptic Cream that can be used to relieve pain and prevent infections on minor cuts, burns and other minor injuries. The lightweight formula is non-greasy and is quickly absorbed. Germolene combines both antiseptic and anaethetic properties to help relieve pain and prevent the injury from becoming infected. Germolene is a convenient and effective way to protect any small wound and is a great addition to any first aid kit.  
How to treat small wounds
Most small injuries like cuts, scrapes are easily treated at home and should start to heal within a few days.
Stop bleeding
If the wound is bleeding, apply pressure to the area using a clean, dry and absorbent material, such as a bandage, towel or handkerchief for several minutes. If the cut is on your hand or arm raise it above your head to help reduce blood flow. If the injury is on the leg or foot, lie down and raise your legs. 
Clean the wound 
When the wound has stopped bleeding, clean it thoroughly. Wash and dry your hands and clean the wound by placing it under clean water. Pat the area dry with a clean towel. Apply an antiseptic if needed and a sterile, adhesive dressing, such as a plaster. Keep the dressing clean by changing it when necessary. Check the wound regularly and if it has closed, you can remove the dressing. 
How can Germolene help wounds to heal?
Germolene Antiseptic Cream contains two active ingredients that work together to ease pain and protect wounds from infection. Phenol and chlorhexidine digluconate have antiseptic properties that can disinfect skin, wounds and burns. Phenol also has local anaesthetic action to help relieve pain during healing. The caring cream formula helps to soften the skin and soothe irritation.  Germolene can be used to treat a range of minor skin injuries including:

How to use Germolene
Using Germolene Antiseptic to protect a wound couldn’t be easier. Firstly wash and dry your hands thoroughly before treating the wound. Ensure that the tube is sealed before using Germolene. Break the tube seal. Thoroughly clean the affected area of skin with warm water – do NOT use soap. For minor cuts and grazes, apply the cream directly to the wound or on a dressing. For scalds, minor burns and blisters,  apply the cream generously and massage gently. Replace the cap firmly after use. 
Warnings
If the wound doesn’t improve or you are unsure how you should use this product, seek medical advice from your doctor or a Chemist4U pharmacist. This cream is for external use ONLY. Avoid contact with the eyes or mouth. In case of accidental swallowing, seek medical advice immediately or contact your nearest accident and emergency department. 
When NOT to use this product
Do NOT use Germolene Antiseptic Cream if you are allergic to any of the ingredient in Germolene (see ingredients tab for full list). Only use this product after seeking advice from a medical professional if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. 
Side Effects
This product contains cetostearyl alcohol which may cause local skin reactions, such as contact dermatitis. Like all medicines, Germolene can cause side effects although not everybody will experience them. Seek immediate medical advice if you experience any sudden wheeziness, breathing difficulties, swelling of the eyelids, face or lips, rash or itching, as these are signs of an allergic reaction. In rare cases, local irritation or rashes may be experienced at the site of application. Frequent application of Germolene cream for long periods of time or over large areas of the skin may lead to skin irritation. If you experience any discomfort when using this product, discontinue use and seek medical advice from a doctor or a Chemist4U pharmacist. 
Storage
Keep medicines out of sight and reach of children. Do not store Germolene above 25°C and do not use this product after the expiry date, which is stated on the carton and on the end of the tube.
